PRESS RELEASE
“ON THE ROAD"
~ Release Date: Available Now by Mail.
Label: Private. Number: NCCD0801. Distributor: Nathan Carter Music.
When I set out to write this Press Release for the album “On The Road” I said to Nathan Carter, “you know what people like to read, is something about you in your own words; where have you been? What have you done? Not a load of old standard publicity stuff that means nothing to anyone.” Here’s his story so far. Is the best, yet to come? No! It’s already here.
Nathan Carter was born on 28 May 1990 in the City of Liverpool. At the age of four Nathan found his love for music and was given a piano accordion, which he quickly mastered. At the age of seven years, Nathan started to enter Fleadh Ceoil Competitions in Accordion and Singing. At the age of 15 Nathan won the All Ireland Title for Traditional Singing. In school Nathan was Head Chorister, in the famous boy’s choir of St Francis Xavier’s School, Liverpool, which travelled the world and sang for Pope John Paul II and many Cardinals in St Peter’s Basilica, Rome. Nathan had the privilege of performing in New York, Boston and Washington and several European cities including Bruges, Brussels and Nantes.
At 16 years, Nathan decided to leave school and start his solo musical career. During the last year Nathan has recorded two albums. His debut album was “Starting Out” contained such Country Classics as ‘Working Man’ by Rita McNeill; 40 ‘Shades Of Green’ by Johnny Cash; ‘Look At Us’ by Vince Gill and Irish Standards such as ‘Isle Of Innisfree’ by Dick Farrelly; ‘Carrickfergus’ and ‘Erin Gra Moi Chroi’ - both Traditional Classics and the anthem adopted by Celtic and Liverpool Football Clubs, ‘The Fields Of Athenry’ by Pete St. John.
“Starting Out” was a terrific success for a first album and it opened many doors that would otherwise be firmly locked to someone so young. As a result of the popularity of “Starting Out,” Nathan was invited to perform on two of the famous Cruises and Fleadh Ibiza, Residency, organised by Enjoy Travel, which in-turn, led to invitations to perform, with great aplomb, at Festivals throughout Europe.
Nathan has shared the bill at various events with such ‘Giants’ of the industry as Tommy Fleming, Sean Wilson, Susan McCann and Foster and Allen
In February this year, Nathan was pleasantly surprised to be invited by the organisers, to attend The Irish World Awards 2008 Gala Night at the famous Galtymore Dance Club, Cricklewood, London. He was even more astounded, when to his great surprise; he was presented with “The Best Male Newcomer Award 2008.” He was then invited to sing one song, to celebrate his achievement. Nathan sang the beautiful classic song written by Don Long, “Never Be The Sun”. The packed audience ‘brought the house down’ with rapturous applause and much screaming, from the ‘young women’ of all ages!
Such, was the demand for more, from the “The Best Male Newcomer Award Winner 2008”, that the James Peake Band, duly invited Nathan back on stage to perform a set, which satisfied the enormous demands of the entire audience.
2008 will continue to be a very busy year for Nathan Carter. He has built on this success with his second album “On The Road” - Nathan Carter is creating quite a stir amongst radio presenters, with many top DJ’s selecting this excellent latest offering from “The Best Male Newcomer 2008 – Award Winner” at The Irish World Awards, as their Album of the Week.
The Album has twelve tracks which include; “I Just Want To Dance With You”, “Past The Point of Rescue;” “Buy Me A Rose;" “Face On The Cutting Room Floor;" “Teach Your Children Well”. Also included is the Burt Bacharach / Bob Hilliard blockbuster that give Joe Dolan one of his biggest hits “The Answer To Everything”. The Don Long song, “Never Be The Sun” made famous by Dolores Keane and Emmylou Harris is also there, but this version eclipses the Keane / Harris interpretation. Now That Is Saying Something!
2008 will also see Nathan Carter having his own band, to complement his already burgeoning stage performances. Not just any old band though. Nay, it will consist of several of the musicians who collaborated with Nathan on the studio recording, arrangements and production, of his stunning second album entitled “On The Road”.
This excellent album deserves to be listened to. It is a superb collection of memorable songs, delivered with a freshness which is palpable; from a young singer who is destined to Top the Popularity and Sales Charts. He’s not eighteen yet. But Just Watch This Young Man Go.
